  1. Yes, he is not a member of the Nation of Islam rather that is something his politcal opponents keep trying to beat with a dead stick. He helped organize the Million Man March and used to run with them in his college days almost 20 years ago.

The Washington Post had an article on it this week called: Muslim Candidate Plays Defense
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/10/AR2006091000951.html

  2. I should add that he denies ever being a member of the Nation.

  3. Gas is so cheap in Iowa because it is a major supplier of ethanol and is used in their gas their, so they get a break on the price.

As to the Muslim in Congress, he actually denounced Louis Farrakhan, and was supported by a local Jewish group, so the news said.

    Ya Haqq!

  4. He attends the same masjid that I do here in Minneapolis - http://masjidannur.org/ - it’s a former NOI masjid that followed WD Muhammad to sunni islam in the 70s.

If a white chica can comfortably worship there, good bet is they’re not NOI anymore ;) I’ve talked with Br. Keith on a number of occasions and there is nothing that leads me to believe he is other than a brother in Islam.

  5. Gas in Houston is about 2.24

  6. As-Salaamu ‘alaikum,

It’s the same guilt by association we see from these elements time and time again. He shared a platform with a given Muslim activist who they see as an extremist, but who was at the time acting in his capacity as a civil rights campaigner, and he gets tarred with the same broad brush.

  7. Keith Ellison (aka Keith Hakim, Keith X Ellison and Keith Ellison-Muhammad) is the candidate that terrorist front group CAIR (http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6176) hopes wins the November election(http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=24324). The endorsement from such a shady group like CAIR is alone reason enough to make one question Ellison’s qualifications.

A reason the November race will be very interesting to watch will be how far the Democratic leadership tries to distance itself from Ellison (http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/008058.php).

  8. Many people, black and non-black, muslim and non-muslim share some sympathy for parts of NOI. They were pioneers of the colored self-pride which is absolutely a necessary pre-condition for any sustainable solution. All white people can come to the sunna of Jesus Christ, but a little problem will stilll linger if Afro, Asian, Latino people dont come out of their inferiority complex. I am not endorsing their mythology of Yacob’s experiments. But as a political entity, they needed to be present at that time.
