Don’t take loved ones for granted
Posted on June 18th, 2007 by Tariq Nelson
Yesterday (6/17/2007) I was told that my good friend Rashad (”TheSaveRashadProject”) lost his Father who was 53 and seemingly in good health. Needless to say everyone is in shock, but the way in which Rashad’s father died is amazing, masha Allah.
I may share later, but in the meantime, I ask that everyone keep Rashad and his family in their prayers and call someone that you love and tell them. It may be your last chance

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oon. May Allaah have mercy on all of them, aameen
Jazaaka Allaahu khairan for the reminder
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun
May Allah (swt) have mercy on him and forgive him for his sins and give him strength and pardon him. May Allah enlarge his grave and shed light upon him and it. Ameen
Brother Rashad,
I am so sorry for your loss. May Allah (swt) make your bereavement easy for you and your family. Ameen.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un
I will keep Rashad and his family in my duas.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji
Inna Lilahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon.
I pray Allah makes things easy for the family, I know it must be so difficult.
salaams,
Thank you all for the kind words and du’as. I haven’t commented in a while because I’ve been extremely busy with work and family.
Needless to say that my father was and remains the single biggest tangible influence in my life and everything I try to be now is based on how he influenced me. He was Muslim to the bone but he never felt the need to march to the beat of any drummer other than his own. No movements, fads, or personalities ever blurred his practice of Islam and he wouldn’t hesitate to tell it like he saw it. He helped pull me out of my own infatuation with Islamic ‘personalities’ and movements and al-hamdulillah I was able to tell him that he had been right all along after years of us disagreeing.
Tariq alluded to it but he died in the masjid where he was among the honorees of a Real Men, Real Fathers program. That just about sums it up.
