Hiatus

I need to take a break from everything for a while and will not be posting for an indefinite period of time (could be a few days or weeks). the amount of hatred and vitriol I have received (plus some personal things) have caused me to see the need to do some serious re-evaluation over the next few days and ask God for some help and guidance

salam bro. Your voice is very important to the Muslim discourse on the blogosphere. Everyone may not agree with everything you say all the time…. but if that was the case, then what would be the point?

Maybe you can require people to enter a valid email address before they comment. Maybe then people like Dave G would think twice.
I think you are doing a good job - the fact that you are attracting so many detractors means you are an agitator. Enjoy your break! Hopefully the sun is shining where you are.

Even though I ‘ve only been only been on this blog for a couple of months, it’s been quite a joy reading your blog. Even though I’m a non-Muslim, I’ve enjoy your (and the many Muslim bloggers that are on here). I’ve been educated, inspired and entertained by them.
Yep! The devil is lurking around to test people and that is what is being done to you. When we do god’s work, we’re going to be tested. Anybody who thinks that God is going to always going amke us have good days is lying. God wants strong people and to be strong, we have to go through the ringer. Maybe you’re going through this because god has somethng far better for you.
You and God knows what is best for you. I’ll still be checking your and your blogger friends site as I have not read a lot of past material that is on here. Take care.

Take the time you need, we all need a break every now and then but don’t tap out of the ring just yet, you have fight left in you, I know we it, we all do. These breaks only serve (Inshaallah) to make us stronger. Like Abu Sinan said, Don’t let them get you down. You have a lot of people rooting for you, take the time you need, then come back!!!
And we will not let people like Dave G (and others) who want you to retreat and stop what you are doing win. Keep your head up, things are going to get easier.
Dude! No! You have like the best posts, and exactly the sort of person we need in the American Muslim community. I’m flashing back to the John Adams biopic currently playing on HBO as I think of what you must be going through.
One of the reasons I usually stay out of the community is exactly what you’re going through now. I don’t mind people disagreeing with me, hell I welcome it, but the way some people carry on that discourse, especially if its hateful, tends to suck out my happy energy. They’re like vampires who suck out the happy instead of blood.
Take care dude, chill, watch some tv, drink some tea, and by the responses here I’d guess that quite a few people support you so hopefully that’ll help you feel stronger.
