Omar & Pete

This film features two Muslims from Baltimore that have spent the last 30 years in and out of prison. This sad film gives a lot of insight to the institutionalized mentality many (Muslim and non-Muslim alike) suffer from upon entering the penal system at a young age. The things these men see and go through at a young age are difficult for those who are blessed to have grown up in stable and loving families to put their minds around.

What is your point? Shouldn’t we feel shame?

as-salaamu ‘alaikum. Yes JT, the opposite of “shame” is honor. And honor is what has been bestowed upon mankind above all of Allah Almighty’s creation. I was merely pointing at the fact that by identifying “shame” as the reason Pete chooses to abstain from bad deeds, Pete in effect is identifying with that honor, mashaAllah! We should all identify with that honor and feel “shame” when our actions are going the wrong way. Thanks for asking.
