Tiring of the Politics of Fear

I still contend that the “wind of change” that is blowing is rooting in fatigue of fear politics (demonstrated earlier in the year by Rudolph Guiliani’s running on vicious anti-Muslim sentiment flaming out)

Now, the GOP in North Mississippi (the district in which I was born) tried to run on the “big bad black guy” by pinning Dr. Jeremiah Wright on Travis Childers (??) - a local Democratic politician running for the Congressional seat. Again, they failed…in a solidly GOP district. Perhaps they should try to run on…ideas?

  1. The GOP’s strategy of doing is getting quite old. They tried( and in some cases, is still trying) . Now that they see that the anti- Muslim rhetoric is getting cold, why not use Jeremiah Wright.? Nothing but more desperate racist politics as usual.

  2. A reporter last night said many of the exiting voters in West Virginia said they think Obama might be a Muslim.

It would seem the Republican Party, and even some in the Clinton camp, have done their job well.

Sad when we think it is West Virginia that allowed JFK to be the first Catholic president.

  3. I wasn’t suprised by the outcome coming from a backwards state like West Virginia. According the ABC news, over 66 percent of their residents said that they would not vote for Obama if he became the official Democratic nominee. If there is any speck of hope, John Edwards have endorsed him.

Evidently, the anti-Muslim/ Jeremiah Wright campaign has backfired: Mr. Childers won . It was funny. His opponent wanted to use it against him, but he neglected to talk about his own controversial record of considering having a statue of an in famous KKK member put in his district . How hypocritical is that?! Mr. Childers may have his work cut out for him, but it was so that that part of his sweet victory took place in a GOP “stronghold”. If he did there, He can do it again.

  4. Peaches,
Why is discussing Rev. Wright and his long relationship with a Presidential candidate racist?
Is discussing McCain and Rev. Whatever racist too?
