A little something to think about for those that sleep around
One in four adults living in New York City has the virus that causes genital herpes, and among African-Americans the rate is almost 50 percent, official statistics show.

There is a guy that I know who live near me, who ha , in his case, AIDS. In high school, girls wanted to date him. One of my friend asked me why was I,( along with a couple of other girls) were turned off by him? For one, he knew that girls wanted him and he was waiting for the first one to fall for him. He was stuck on himself and thought that the world wanted him.
I’ve been out of high school for 19 years. For the most part the guy looks the same, but he has AIDS. I also didn’t know that he was bisexual until his sister told me and a couple of people about it( at this time , he wanted to track the girls of his past that slept with him. One of my other friends, was almost devastated about it. Luckily, her pregnancy tests revealed that she was HIV-). He didn’t know if he got from his men or the women he previously dated, but definitely his promiscuous lifestyle play a role in it.
These days sleeping around is the norm for some people . It’s downright weird for me to hear people down celibacy/virginity, but easily boast about them going to the doctor for the claps. I haven’t dated in several years and I don’t care.It’s not important to me and even if it was, issues like the ones mentioned in the post are partly the reason that I choose to be single.

I think these stats are full of crap. Ok the blacks are highest in EVERYTHING deadly? yeah right.. I find that VERY hard to believe even more so now that I’ve sat with the republican S. General for Montgomery Country.
The stats aren’t very accurate and are more for political purposes than anything. Lots of AA and Hispanics take advantage of free services. They HAVE to fill out a form but this data is used to fund raises for various non-profits and state programs.
Since most of these stats are taking from urban cities with high populations of minorities on purpose while at the same time other stats from big cities with very low AA or Hispanics population make it their business not to publicly announce their findings.
These reports help support and reaffirm the general negative mindset pll have against AA, while at the same time provides continuous funding to testing facilities, drug companies, and the lobbyist up help them; not to mention the great tax shelters these programs supply all involved.
When looking at these stats we really have to take them with a gain of salt. Who, Where, and how they came upon the conclusions are usually missing from these findings. Way more AA are in the system in NYC than whites so naturally they would have more information but that doesn
I have to wonder about that myself. Ironically, one of my classes is Statistics. I wonder how do the “experts” come up with their conclusions. I just cannot see, for example, over 66 percent of AA’s have AIDS/HIV positive, but only represent only 12 percent of the United States population. How is that? If them many people has it then AA’s shouldn’t exists. I think I’m going to ask my Statistics professor about it and see how the numbers came to that. I just don’t believe it.

Maybe a medical person can comment here, but I learned that the *herpes simplex virus* itself is common, it is also the same virus that causes cold sores, and simply being a *carrier* of the virus has nothing whatsoever to do with having genital herpes except that the virus causes genital herpes AND other forms. If the genital area comes into contact with an open sore, then one can contract the genital version. So any of us who have never engaged in sexual impropriety can be a carrier of the virus. If we get cold sores, it means that we are carriers. Does this make sense? In other words, just because people in NYC are carriers of the virus doesn’t mean that this proves they are engaging in sexual impropriety at a higher rate. Again, maybe some brother/sister who is in the medical field can comment on this.
There are many variations of the herpes virus. The one that causes cold sores is one variation, and mostly occurs in the upper body. Genital herpes is a different variant, and mostly occurs in the lower body. Chicken pox is another type of herpes, but does not have regular outbreaks. There are a few other variants.
The cold sore/upper body variant is estimated to be carried by up to 90% of the population, with most people probably getting it from their parents as children. Most carriers may not have the outbreaks. It is usually most contagious during an outbreak, but it is present in bodily fluids (eg saliva) so it can actually be passed at any time, though much less likely without the outbreak.
The lower body/genital herpes behaves similarly, and as the article mentions, probably does not have outbreaks for all people.
Most outbreaks, of either form, tend to be around the original area of infection. Usually, there won’t be cross contamination, ie getting genital herpes from cold sores or vice versa, however this is NOT always true. There have been cases where cross contamination occurs.

Statistically it is quite simple to calculate and make make the inferences that lead to their conclusions. They took from the population of Blacks in NYC,–which they could get from the US Census Bureau or some other database–a random sample of of how many people had the disease. This data probably came from city health clinics and/or Dr’s offices. Then they did an hypothesis test, and calculated confidence intervals which by convention are usually 95% reliable.
There could be some bias in collecting the data on the people who report their disease at clinics etc.,But I think the bias would probably skew the reported numbers to be too low. For all we know it could be more people with it than was reported. It would be interesting to see their methodology.
The phenomena of STD’s is the result of the evil sin of fornication. It’s one of the MAJOR sins, and the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu alayhi wa salam) said it will cause the second highest number of people to be thrown into the Hell-Fire. To be forgiven for it requires making tawbah (repentance), whose conditions stipulate:
1. Stop committing the sin
2. Feel remorse or regret that you did it
3. Not return to committing it
NOTE: The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu alayhi wa salam) said in an authentic hadith:
“Allaah is not as Merciful to the grey haired (i.e. the older) fornicator as he is to the younger one”.
O Muslims, please stay away from this filthy act because sins destroy people, communities, cities and nations. If we obey Allaah’s commands regarding this topic, it will be impossible to get an STD.

These stats are bogus. Remember when reading these stats, just look at how they calculate “white” in this country.
Arabs are considered white according to stats; even the Nubians of no Arab heritage, so technically you can be as black as tar, and if you are North African, you are considered “white” so there you have it.
Stats = Bogus crap.
