1 in 50 is still a lot, but it seems that bureaucrats have an interest in inflating the numbers to receive more funding for their programs

I wonder if that quote about 1 in 20 “THOUGHT” to be HIV+ makes any difference on the actual numbers. I understand 1 in 20 to be an estimate…taking into account those who are untested.

Like you said…I think they want funding for their programs…so there’s the shock value…1 in 20.

Quite honestly, I’m not sure why people find these numbers to be exaggerated. Same deal with the other post Tariq posted about AIDs. African Americans are behind almost single racial group in the US including Native Americans in virtually every aspect of health care. And I’m talking two and three times that of even hispanics and native americans. And if they are not in the worst bracket they are second from the bottom. So why is this even such a shocker or being called into such doubt?
