UPDATE: Steve Harvey on Bernie Mac

At the age of 50…A lot of people I knew personally around Bernie’s age have died suddenly.
Bernie Mac, the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian who worked his way to Hollywood success from an impoverished upbringing on Chicago

Wow. That is sad.
I woke up to this too. So sad. I just stared at the computer shaking my head and saying “no, no, no….”
My husband and I loved his show. He was as funny as they come.
yea …it shocked my wife and I too! I always loved his sister’s kids skit from the Kings of Comedy. And he still managed to be really funny when he turned it into a TV show and stopped cursing so much. He will be missed…
I’ve been totally out of the loop in the news (my ISP prematurely shut off my internet since I’m moving soon) so I didn’t find out until today. My mom told me and then I read it online. His death really was sudden. I know his comedy was a bit raunchy at times but it was still funny. He’ll be missed.
Inni lillahi wa inni lilhi rajioon. What is ironic is that he got his fame off of his similaries with comedian Robin Harris died. I’ve also found it ironic how so many comedians have sudden deaths.
I was shocked and saddened too upon hearing of his death. Recently, a few high school friends died. It reminds me of my own mortality, how short life is, how much I squander time….
I thought of the same thing when I heard the news
Wow! his death took me for a major jolt!
I was just coming from the hair salon with a magazine in my hand and I wondered why one of the beauticians asked me about my JET book. He wanted to see if an article of Bernie Mac would be in it. I just thought that he was curious about Bernie Mac’s then -illness( The TV wasn’t working so he wasn’t able to watch the news). I found out about his death on my way home by my cell-phone. I was in utter disbelief.I really thought that he was going to get over his pneumonia and that we was going to make us laugh again.I’m sorry to hear about this tragedy. My condolences goes out to his family.
Hasn’t been a good year. We lost George Carlin, I loved his stuff.
Bernie Mac, couldn’t understand him some of the time with that thick South Chicago accent, but he sure was funny.
can’t believe he is gone great actor/comedian
[...] our lives and into the next. As Tariq Nelson pointed out, many of us were saddened by the deaths of Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes. Issac Hayes especially hit me hard, being a child of the 70s, having seen him in [...]
I still cannot get over my shock! I was not a fan of him, I didn’t even watch his show. But what makes this so unreal for me is first, I did not know he was in the hospital. And second, Mac Man has always been such a full of life person. Regardles of opinions, this was a vibrant, vital and robust human being; and now he’s gone…
May Allah (SWT) have Mercy on us, and may He call us back to Him at a moment where He’s the most pleased with us. Ameen.
I didnt watch his shows regularly, but I liked his performances in the movies. He seemed like a happy, fun guy. I already miss him…Almost as much I missed Jack Lennon and Walter Mathau.
Here are some high resolution photos from his memorial services.

After 2 years I still watch Bernie Mac on channel 2 every night, from 12:00-
1:00 am. I think about the kids of the show and I hope they are doing well.
I often pray for the Mac family I hope they are doing well. I miss you Bernie.
I see you more as the family man on the TV show then the man on stage.
You made me think. You made me laugh. I pray love and peace for your
family. Rest in God’s arms. See you in heaven.
