Gustav

Say a prayer for our fellow citizens in the Gulf Coast Region as Gustav approaches. Many people still live in FEMA trailers from Katrina. There are many people of good will that are already planning to go down to the region to help if needed

  1. I don’t understand why some people are so stubborn. Many who say they can’t afford to leave are planning on staying and “riding it out”. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/08/30/new.orleans/index.html?eref=rss_topstories

I am glad though that the nation is better prepared and not taking any chances with the lives there in New Orleans.

  2. I don’t understand why some people are soooo stubborn. Many people are refusing to evacuate and most claim that they can’t afford to. I understand the hardships but why take chances on your life? You put more people at risk to come provide you with support and care when its over.

I am glad, though, that the nation is better prepared this time around.

  3. Some people underestimate the storms fury. Maybe they think that a hurricane like Katrina will only be a once in a lifetime storm and that it will not be that bad with Gustav.

I was looking at the news about Harvey Jackson, who lost his wife during hurricane Katrina( Tears still come in my eyes whenever I hear his story). He’s doing well and was worried about his sisters. The good news is that they are fleeing the storm and coming to his house in Georgia. The bad news: He has a brother in Biloxi, Mississippi who want to ride out the storm. Maybe Gustav may turn out to be a dud, who knows?but people cannot underestimate the power of hurricanes and/ or any type of deadly storm. You may love your hometown and you may love your material possessions, but there is nothing in this world that is as precious as our lives. When the people say GO!, they should do it. No amount of materialism is worth losing you life.

I’ll also continue to pray for those people in that region and I’ll pray for those people who continue to remain there. May God protect them from its possible wrath.

  4. A lot of the people are emotionally attached to LA

  5. Wow, you all should see the pictures of Haiti and Dominican Republic…the damaging winds and rain Gustav has bought with it–doesn’t look good at all.

  6. oops i didnt think my first comments went through.

I know this one lady said shes staying because she didn’t want to leave her two Rottweilers behind. I hope people make the right decisions and as you said they’ll be in my prayers.

Subhanallaah. It’s not permissible to make du’a for disbelievers. This du’a is general and includes them.

  8. Subhanallaah. It’s not permissible to make du’a for disbelievers.

wow, Daud. you people are so thoughtful of others

  9. Salaam alaikum,

So far it sounds like good news (compared to Katrina) for New Orleans, no major flooding. And I guess it made landfall as a Category 2, so inshAllah no severe damage anywhere else.

It sounds like while a few people stayed behind, the vast majority heeded the evacuation orders.

Hope everyone has a blessed Ramadan.

  10. daud, how do you know that the dua being made is not that allah will guide them? Whenever someone makes a general dua request, I always ask that Allah give them good…guidance is good and Allah Knows Best.

  11. @Daud

I am beginning to believe that you are just here for fun and games. There is no way I can consider your advice as sincere, and only Allah knows if you are or aren’t. Due to the inadequate comments you make, I will be ignoring you. I can’t say that I mean no offense, because I am honestly agitated. I’m just saying that I get nothing from your words. I was trying to think on the bright side, because you DO make me want to study more, but what are my intentions? To argue? No thanks. I’d rather study, but for my own sake, and the sake of my family and those who need my assistance. Have a blessed Ramadan.

  12. Perhaps one should ask Daud about praying for non-Muslims to find out more about Islam. But according to him that would be wrong, so he really does not want non-believers to learn about Islam.

  13. Why do we have to make dua only if it means to guide them. We are part of humanity first before we are muslims, christians or hindus. Suffering affects us all. I make dua for anyone because i would not like anyone to suffer or be caused pain, whether they are guided or not is in the hands of Allah.

  14. Kalimaat,
    Amen!

  15. The Messenger of Allaah

RE: “Why do we have to make dua only if it means to guide them.

Answer: Because Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu alayhi wa salam) said we can’t.

RE: “…We are part of humanity first before we are muslims, christians or hindus. Suffering affects us all. I make dua for anyone because i would not like anyone to suffer or be caused pain, whether they are guided or not is in the hands of Allah.”

Answer: Subhanallaah. I sincerely hope Allaah increases me, you and the rest of us in Beneficial Knowledge (i.e. proper understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah), so that one day you will come to know how much of a calamity this statement truly is. You need to make Tawbah.

  17. The Kufaar are filthy creatures and are not deserving of compassion because of their filthy beliefs. May Allaah guide you people to the ways of the Sunnah

  18. The Messenger of Allaah said:

  19. @ Abu Abdillaah

Akhi, you have be nice to the kuffar. The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu alayhi wa salam) used to give sadaqa (meat) to his Jewish neighbor, and he was kind to him. You can not oppress the kuffar, because their du’a goes straight to Allaah, and He will answer it.

Islaam spread because of the character and the manners of the Muslims. If Muslims were mean towards the kuffar, the da’wah would have never spread.

  20. You will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people) Sura 58:22

I have no love for these filthy creatures

  21. We have to get proper understanding of this Ayah, particularly when we live in their countries.

  22. Shaykh Fawzaan (hafidhullaah) was very clear on this issue in his book. It is impermissible to have any love for these people

  23. 9:113 It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask All

  24. Daud/Abu Abdillah

I am not sure why Br. Tariq has not blocked your comments or why he allows you to continuously display your ignorance but then again it is not my blog.

I will suggest that you can find other things to do with your time other than frequent blogs where people are trying to embody all of the ideals of Islam.

You two make me sick frankly for trying to put your lack of compassion on the deen. There are plenty of examples of the prophet (saw) reaching out to people regardless of faith.

And Abooooooooooooooooooooooo Abdillah, if I am not mistaken, you are a convert no? So how did you come to Islam? Surely not by being regarded as a filthy creature?

In short, you two should use this month to pray for the compassion and regard you were obviously NOT blessed with.

If not, just stay off the internet. It was created by kuffar!

  25. I always love the reference to ‘their countries’ as if all Muslims came from some far away land.

  26. Also, if anyone is interested, there is a line of argument that disputes the hadith in question (Bukhari 9:113), and claims that Abu-Talib may actually have converted to Islam before his death.

The argument is made by a Shia (not any reason to dispute it, I’m just laying it out there). I don’t support nor dispute it, but the hadeeth ends with ‘after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the fire’. This to me would indicate that one would have to have the ability to know that someone would be a dweller of the fire, which is supposed to be the decision of Allah and not any one of us.
