Dangeous Ground

Ta-Nehisi Coates explains why McCain and Palin’s inflaming rhetoric is dangerous. They will not even condemn the crowds jeers and ugly shouting:

We remember Martin Luther King’s murder as a sad and tragic event. Less remembered is the fact that ground-work for King’s murder was seeded, not simply by rank white supremacy, but by people who slandered King as a communist.

At this point I don’t think that McCain even cares about the way he is trying to divide the country. He was once talking about “reaching across the aisle”. Now he (and Palin) are trying to set the aisle on fire.

What a jerk

  1. I think that McCain may want to extinguish the fire.

Word of his supporters behavior must have gotten to him. He was telling his audience that it was ok to disagree with Obama with out disrespecting him and was telling the crowd to tone down their rhetoric. Of course, he did because of he he doesn’t want to be seen as a candidate who caters to low lives. So far, Obama has been a class act, unlike his supporters.

  2. As a parent of a Bangladeshi child I’m sure McCain is a little trouble by supporters comments but he’s in it to win it. He will allow it as long as he thinks it will work for him and not against him.
