McCain: “Obama is a Decent Person”
Posted on October 11th, 2008 by Tariq Nelson
Since I have been attacking McCain and Palin for their character attacks on Obama the past couple of weeks, I have to give it to him for putting down the idiocy calling Obama a “decent person”
A man in the audience stood up and told McCain he’s “scared” of an Obama presidency and who he’d select for the Supreme Court.
“I have to tell you. Sen. Obama is a decent person and a person you don’t have to be scared of as president of the United States,” McCain said as the crowd booed and shouted “Come on, John!”
“If I didn’t think I’d be a heck of a lot better, I wouldn’t be running for President of the United States.”

Asalaamu alaikum.
LOL… well, I’m so glad to have McCain’s confirmation, aren’t you? I mean, I wouldn’t have known what to think without it… snort.
as saalaam alaikum
how else would u expect him to respond???
he couldnt just let her get away with calling him an arab!
McCain wants to have it both ways. He wants to use the tried and tested Republican formula of instilling fear in the American public to get them to go a certain politically as well as appear to the more moderates of his party to be lofty, ideal and a principled by putting out the very fires of hatred and bigotry he stirred up. This game is so transparent and naked they should put more clothes on it than this because it’s so obscene.
Geez! instead Sarah putting John up, she’s bringing him down. The funny thing is that is what some polls have suggested that and it is very obvious. She’s not the brightest bulb on the tree, now she’s recently gotten in trouble with because of her abuse of power as Governor. In spite of it, I don’t think that it will hurt her chances as VP( because of John)This all seems to be happening so quickly.
I’m not Republican, but I thought that John was a smarter person than that. I don’t think that he did any investigations about this woman because if he would have, he wouldn’t have picked a person that would sink him. All he seen was outside appearances. Why would he want to pick someone who would could possibly ruin him( not that I would want him as prez). So much has come out about this woman that it’s not even funny and she not even VP yet. I just could imagine the other skeletons that she is hiding.
Salam! I agree with miscellany.
The only reason McCain made such a half-assed attempt is because he’s getting flak from his own party for the disgusting campaign he’s running.
Too little, too late, McCain. You’ve already let the hate out of the bag; good luck putting it back in.

– John Adams
Asalaamu alaikum!
I fear that McCain’s comments fall short of the mark at this point in the game. He should have remembered his sense of honor when these comments first emerged from his crowd of supporters. The fact that McCain and Palin remained silent when the crowd spewed hate speech and terroristic threads (”Kill Him” is a terroristic threat in my book), was as good as the two of them actually uttering the statements themselves.
Although I have always disagreed with McCain’s position on issues, I nevertheless had a sense of respect for him. I think he forgot about the importance of fundamental core values somewhere along the way.

I find it both ironic and disgusting that the man ,Lee Atwater, who fueled the rumor in 2000 that McCain fathered out of wedlock “Black Child” is the “maverick’s” campaign strategist. McCain should be ashamed and embarrassed!
[...] Tariq however says- I have to give it to him for putting down the idiocy calling Obama a “decent person” [...]
What disturbs me is that he clarified nothing. She said that Obama is ‘Arab’, and then McCain goes on to talk about Obama being a decent person. Seems as if the statement could be taken that a) Arabs are not decent people and/or b) by not correcting her misconception that he is not Arab, insinuating that Obama happens to be a ‘good’ Arab.
Of course, McCain was implicitly saying that Arabs aren’t decent people who respect and love their families.
ADC just issued a statement against McCain’s remarks.
I wouldn’t be surprised there will be others to follow behind them.
Lindsay Graham(R-SC) tried to accuse John Lewis and others of playing the race card, but somebody should remind him that it’s McCain’s supporters who are playing the race card. They are the fools who keep insinuating bad things about Obama and Arabs.
Some of his allies just don’t–or won’t get the message. They are still determined to make Obama look a terrorist with those ads. I don’t know how McCain( and Sarah) are going to be able to be taken seriously.Their cohorts are continuing showing those ads.
Hitler used unfounded propaganda to convince the Germans that the Jews were overtaking their country. It’s no different with this only that we’re dealing with AA’s , Arabs and Muslims. Far as I’m concerned, McCain isn’t much better than he.
I got a quote from somewhere which rings true to the games of politics:
“Once a word enters public domain, it takes 9 horses to pull it back” - some proverb.
