Ah, for this the land was won, the frontiers pushed ever Westward against all odds and its savage natives, labor brought in across the sea to help us with our crops, that we might live in peace and freedom… brrrrmm brrrrrrmmmm…
Can someone please translate that video into english?
ROFL
That video was definitely filmed in West Virginia. BTW, WHAT exactly were they riding? At first, I thought it was a motorcycle, but then for a second it looked like it had the head of a llama. The rare Appalachian Buraq, perhaps?!
Wow, I live in the boondocks but never in my life have I seen anything like that.
I love how they’re so indignant about an “Ay-rab” possibly becoming Prez.
@ Student and Anon: Yes, these people exist. Growing up in upstate NY, I went to school with this type, especially in my middle school years (most of them dropped out by high school, to which I felt, good riddance).
Palin is a breath of fresh air for them, the first real politician on the national level who’s as close to being one of them as I’ve seen in my life. (Perhaps LBJ was as well, but he’s a little before my time.) Palin’s supporters are lower middle class at best, and I think these two videos are probably a good representation of her demographic.
I think the choice of Palin was a purely cynical choice on the part of McCain’s advisers to find the widest possible demographic they could while not moving more left of center and alienating the hard core social conservative base with an influx of “moderate” support. At this time I don’t think McCain will win (insha’allah), and I think that if Palin thinks that, by virtue of her being the VP nominee, she has a green light to run on her own in 2012, she’s going to find her future support to be very thin, insha’allah.
Actually Lyndon Johnson was the president responsible for pushing most of the de-segregation and civil rights stuff through. Kennedy did surprisingly little (but did make a lot of rhetoric).
I clicked on the video and the YouTube info for that picture said it was filmed in SE Kentucky, not WV. She did say she had supported Hillary Clinton, but now that she’s out of the race and she won’t be voting for Obama, one can deduce who she’ll be voting for.
@ K-Dude: I know (and agree) with all that. What I don’t know is how LBJ was on a day-by-day basis, reacting to and politicking with various groups of people, especially in his US Senate days before he was nominated for VP (having been born in ‘61, this is all before my time ). Which demographic group was his base during his time as a Texas politician?
It’s EXTREMELY RARE that I get into political discussions, but I am forced to because you people are so far off the mark on Palin. In my opinion, she is an incompetent jerkoff, and the American public should be offended that she’s even in the national spotlight. Don’t sleep on her. MCcain’s people did a LOT of research on her and what she brings to their campaign. Her fans ain’t just a bunch of hillbillies:
Of course I read them. Palin doesn’t represent some fringe group like many of the people posted or implied, she represents what a lot of middle class America believes–whether it’s warranted or not.
Is this some kind of parody? Are there truly people that stupid out there? And the guy in the front, I cannot understand anything he is saying. At least the guy in the back is smart enough not to say anything and to try to hide his face.
Actually, if you listen to the video, SHE’S A STAUNCH HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTER!
“Hillary for President, all the way!”
Ah, for this the land was won, the frontiers pushed ever Westward against all odds and its savage natives, labor brought in across the sea to help us with our crops, that we might live in peace and freedom… brrrrmm brrrrrrmmmm…
Sarah Palin’s pick for secretary of state.

Am I hallucinating?
man, I never knew people like that actually existed in real life.

I’m getting a kick looking at those people. ,it just funny how they spew their ignorance like that. This is just pure comedy.

So far off the mark? Did you read anyone’s comments?
