Palin 2012?

I was wondering how on earth conservatives could say that Palin “destroyed” Biden in that debate. (Some of them even saying that Biden faked his moment remembering his dead wife and son and praised Palin for ignoring that moment). Are they just THAT far in the tank that they couldn’t see the obvious. Or just refuse to admit it at all costs (and they are paid well)

But Eugene Robinson has another theory:

Honestly, it was bizarre to hear intelligent, informed conservatives sing rhapsodies over a performance that was long on spunk but woefully short on substance. When Palin tried to answer Gwen Ifill’s questions, as she did on the financial bailout, she got lost in the weeds. So she basically ignored the questions and retreated to her talking points — embellished with enough mugging, eye-rolling, winking, smirking and all-around folksiness to choke a mule, or a moose. One candidate on that stage clearly had command of the great issues of our time. One didn’t.

[...]

It’s not that conservatives heard a different debate. It’s that they were focused on a different election cycle. The conservative movement is looking for its next Ronald Reagan — its next charismatic leader with game-changing communication skills, bedrock conservative principles and, well, barracuda-like political instincts. Some on the right believe they may have found that leader in Palin. Smart conservative political analysts aren’t under the illusion that Palin can turn this election around; only John McCain can do that, if he can figure out how. But remember that the “movement” conservatives’ embrace of McCain is based on pragmatism, not passion. He’s just not their guy.

[...]

Under my scenario, for ideological conservatives it will be a pity if McCain loses to Barack Obama but not a disaster. If that happens, I can pretty much guarantee that Sarah Palin will be back four years from now. Somewhere, the “Palin 2012″ bumper stickers are probably already being printed.

Some - like Hannity and Limbaugh - were going to say she did well no matter what happened. If she completely bombed, they were prepared to blame Gwen Ifill.

I think that Palin will go back into obscurity if McCain loses this race. Look for Gingrich - who I think may be rooting for McCain to lose - to make a run in 2012.

  1. Her debate wasn’t fanatastic.

They are in denial and it is that type of thought that will hurt us shall she and McCain go to the Whitehouse. I was looking at her making another recent speech. It is very evident that she was using other people’s words. She brought up Obama’s ” association” with a terrorist. (First of all he was a kid. Wouldn’t he and his family would have been in trouble many moons ago if the authorities felt that he was one?) that was sooo long ago. It’s bad for her to bring up a rehashed argument with no truth in it.

MCain want’s bring up Obama’s lack of experience , yet they want to risk out national security with Sarah?I remembered how people expressed fear about McCain’s temper, one of Reagan’s ill decisions during the Iran contra affairs( and he could be excused with his battle with Alzheimer’s disease). People we’re questioning their abilities of running their political offices because of them. Yet they are over looking Sarah’s abilities of running the Whitehouse and that is quite troubling.

There are many things that I would let a person take a chance on, but when it comes to the Whitehouse , we cannot afford to put anybody in there. Her supporters seem to take it as a joke. They are seeing the out side of Sarah, but they are not seeing the ” what if’s” about her abilities as possible VP. We’re getting hints about her and I’m not impressed about what she has to offer.

  2. Really?

Check out my post on why we on the conservative side love Palin.

    Conservative Attack Dog.

  3. Atack Dog,

    Your link won’t open.

Anyways, if you love Sarah, you just do and that’s ok, but I’m sorry, it will have to take a lot more than me just liking a candidate for me to be convinced that they belong in the Whitehouse.

I’m not a Republican, but even if I were, I still would not want her in the Whitehouse. If you think that it’s Democratic critics that are trying to tear her down, think again. Even some members of her own party. who are afraid of her and I can’t blame them. McCain could have gotten a lot of politicians who could have made him proud, but he chose Sarah because he is just using her for attention purposes.

I call it a “joke” because it just seems that people are more drawn about her than about the issues at hand. I’m Democratic. I voted for Bill Clinton in the past, now it’s Obama. As voters, we all gamble with who we put in the Whitehouse( just like we did with Bush), but you better believe that when I make my “gamble” ,I do it based on the credentials of the person.

I’m not voting for Barack because of his fame. I’m very anti-war, pro-economy , and he has have some direct experince with the US Government as a US senator and he seems to have some knowledge about Politics. Like I said, I’m not going to make any exuses for her being in the Whitehouse. Just look at those interviews she’s done with Katie Couric.Anybody who cannot answer simple questions about reading news stories is enough to scares me.

Just imagine if you went to your doctor and you ask him about his qualifications of being such and does that number that Sarah Palin did with Katie( never answering the question). He may have a great disposition, but you’re not going to let him examine you because of it. That is exactly how I feel about Sarah and why I have no faith in her.

  4. Since this was about VP’s I should have went to Joe Biden. Either way, Biden/Obama are proven men.
