The Commercial

For those that missed the 30 minute Obama Commercial, I have posted it below. I thought it was brilliantly put together and very moving. Many have said that they were moved to tears…

  1. Extremely well put together, I thought, especially the ending. Hey, who said it would hurt Obama to have celebrity friends:) If the undecideds are still undecided, there is really nothing more that can be done.

If Obama loses this, after eight years of Bush and the icy approval ratings, with a terrible economy and people losing jobs, two wars, outspending McCain by a billion, lots of love from the media, and I repeat, eight years of Bush, I will officially just give up. They cannot lose this.

  2. Thank you for posting it; I wanted to see it but had to work.

  3. [...] buying the election, I don’t know what else you’d call it. How would the Obama-Mania bloggers react if John McCain was buying the presidency? And they complain about Sarah Palin’s 150K $ [...]

  4. I was crying.

But I’m a shameless Obamabot, so it doesn’t count.

  5. That mini-movie was moving the scene that almost made me lose it was when the elderly woman was rubbing her hands it reminded me of my great-grand mother (my GG) who worked in cotton fields during WWI and factories during WWII yet had to struggle for prescriptions.

I can say Obama has made a great run, but white supremacy is still too strong here.

Just as there are many uneducated Blackamericans who will never reach the American dream, yet will vote for Obama because he represent collective achievement, there even more poor uneducated whites who will vote against Obama because his presidency would make a dent in whiteness as symbolism for “American” they haven’t endured enough pain to give that up …yet

  6. Obama made a great strategic move with this 30-minute advertisement. He had a place to knock down any “October surprises” that McCain-Palin may have thrown at him since the last debate … and he had a chance for an undiluted discussion with the American people about his vision for our nation.

I thought he did a wonderful job … and the midnight rally in Florida with Bill Clinton was superb as well.

It appears that Obama is in stride to finish strong over the next five days…

    peace, Villager

  8. I was not what I was going to get from Obama’s commercial, but now that I’ve seen it, I must say that it was a real treat. It wasn’t run of the mill and I was quite touched by it. When he talked about the woman with the special needs child that got me because there are many people who are living her nightmare.

I also was especially moved about Obama’talking about health care and his mother’s battle with ovarian cancer. Unfortunately his mom wasn’t able to see her granddaugthers. She also never got to see her little boy run for the presidency, but if she was alive, like all good parents, she would be his biggest cheerleader.

He’s been through some serious obstacles and so far has over came them. Hopefully, he will be able to overcome this historic hurdle.

  9. If it is buying the election, then it is all the American people sending donations to him rather than McCain that are doing the buying. McCain is the one with 7 or how many houses?

And this act is not unprecedented - several other presidential candidates have bought half-hour prime-time TV slots in the past - including Republicans.
