More Men Fighting Crime…in Tights

Remember those Batman copy cats in The Dark Knight? Well there are an increasing number of real ones out there trying to fight crime.

They may look wacky, but the superhero community was born in the embers of the 9/11 terrorist attacks when ordinary people wanted to do something short of enlisting. They were boosted by a glut of Hollywood superhero movies.

In recent weeks, prompted by heady buzz words such as “active citizenry” during the Barack Obama campaign, the pace of enrolment has speeded up. Up to 20 new “Reals”, as they call themselves, have materialised in the past month.

The Real rules are simple. They must stand for unambiguous and unsponsored good. They must create their own Spandex and rubber costumes without infringing Marvel or DC Comics copyrights, but match them with exotic names – Green Scorpion in Arizona, Terrifica in New York, Mr Xtreme in San Diego and Mr Silent in Indianapolis.

If that keeps up, it can only give rise to some super villains

  1. We already have super villians. Just have these fake super heros start in on the corrupt CEO’s and politicians….that should keep them busy for at least a decade or two.

  2. I agree we already have super villians as we are constantly bombarded by the nefarious plots of the dastadardly Dr. Shirk and his cohort Bida, who run the evil international organization K.O.N.B..

Luckly we have Muslim super heroes like Dynamic D and his side kick uninformed, who with their low tech (high tech is part of the K.O.N.B. plan) bida detection devices are able to stamp out all shirk.

Maybe the costumed kufar super heroes can handle trival matters such as charity to the poor and needy, the wayfarer, those indebted, captives and those whose hearts are to be won over, as these matters are far to unimportant to be on the radar for Dynamic D and his side kick uninformed. LOL

  3. If I was a stand-up comedian, I was going to have a whole bit on super-hero psychology. Has anyone thought about the background of most super-heros? Most of them orphans whose parents died violently, or whose families were killed violently etc etc And quite a few of them were in industrial/laboratory accidents which gave them their superpowers. Very hard to find a single one with a normal upbringing in a mostly functional family.

I had an idea for a comic book about a guy who is a hero, not because of some superpower, but because he actually handled his life responsibilities with humility and honesty. These days, that would be a superpower.

  4. Is this for real?

As a kid, I was fascinated by Storm’s ( The X-men), The Phoenix( the X-men) Starfire( the Teen Titans). My brother always thought they were hot superwomen.

Seriously, it approach in stopping crime is weird, but commendable. I must also agree, this type of plan to fighting crime will possibly lead to supervillains and nutccases wanting to mar the party.

  5. Kicking off 2010’s mixed martial arts is the brilliant UFC 108. It’s bound going to be a great event with the kickoff being Evans vs Silva going head to head. You can watch evans vs silva video for FREE in full HD without paying that grotty $55.95 PPV cost.
