Dyson vs Buchanan

As for me: I don’t understand what Holder was trying to accomplish in his speech the other day. And Pat Buchanan is correct that the out of wedlock birthrate and crime are both out of control amongst blacks.

  1. What’s not to understand as to what Holder was trying to accomplish in his speech? Also: in the context of the discussion, what did Pat Buchanan’s assesment of our social ills have to do with the dishonesty when speaking on matters of race?

If anything he kinda proved Holder’s and Dyson’s point to me.

  2. @ Rippa

Holder is the Attorney General and I didn’t really understand what he was getting at because political correctness demands that we do NOT talk about race or the social ills that Pat Buchanan mentioned.

Are we cowards for NOT talking about it or for talking about it?

Had Pat Buchanan (or Bill Cosby for that matter) NOT said anything, wouldn’t that have been cowardly?

  3. The question is whether or not the Attorney General wants whites to be honest about race. I think the answer is ‘no’

  4. I think the point he was making if one listened to the speech in detail other than the now famous soundbite that has sparked controversy is valid. He was saying that the problem with race is that nobody wants to have an honest discussion about it.

He never pointed to any race in particular, but America. Buchanan did just what he was speaking on in the debate. He deflected from the issue of the racial majority not recognizing that the systematic construct that is racism still permeates our society.

He even went as far as to suggest that African-Americans are better off being here than in Africa. In other words, White America saved us. The bigger issue is not as he put it, that we’re our own worst enemy. But instead the fact that “White Privilege” affords him the ability to say what he said without regard.

To not confront or engage racial discussion head on is cowardly. We must also realize that racism is way beyond slavery, Jim Crow, and the Black experience because it comes in all shapes and forms. This is especially evident with the way American Muslims have been stereotyped since 9/11.

  5. I also thought that he was a conservative man. I guess that I was wrong.

  6. I totally agree with Rippa and Peaches. It finally takes one person (even though he was black is beside the point) to finally address the racial injustices going on. Sure enough they are apparent like lynchings and being attacked by dogs and all, but the fact that it’s still evident in constitutions, churches, etc. And all Pat Buchanan did was proved Atty General Holder and Michael Eric Dyson right. Pat Buchanan just made his race look bad, because of the fact that he couldn’t own up to the fact that his ancestors partook in every racial injustice bestowed upon the African American race. HE PROVED HIS IGNORANCE ON TELEVISION BEFORE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE! And if anybody else besides black people didn’t catch that, then it just proves to me that you need to wake up and pay attention to what’s really going on. And if you are silly enough to think that since President Obama got elected and racism is over….. YOUR ASS IS STUUUUUUUUUUUPID! Racism ain’t dead, it’s trying to be incognito. smh.

  7. Two guys talking AT each other. It’s like this: whites continue benefit from white priveledge and white racism. White racism still is very vibrant in America. To pretend that it is not is nothing more than a lie.

On the other hand, black kaafir culture is a moral cesspool. SEVENTY PERCENT of black children are bastards–and even higher when one considers the out of wedlock CONCEPTION rate. Black males constitute 6% percent of the population–but commit almost 50% of the murders and other violent crimes. (If we talk about YOUNG black males, then we are talking about 3% of black males commiting 50% of the murder.) Add to that the negro Christian-mushrik leadership (like, Dyson) that does not want to deal with the decadence of black popular culture (i.e., hip hop), and it is easy to see that the black kaafir culture as a whole will not be able to compete in the 21st century. Negroes can blame white folks all they want–the bottomline is that the negroes need to REFORM THEIR VILE LIFESTYLES (pimpin’ and strippin’, druggin’, drinkin’, fornicatin’, etc.). The white man can’t do that for them. The negro-mushriks need TO WANT to live morally upright lives… and if they are sincere in that, then they will have to embrace Islam.

Nothing is worthy of worship except Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

    With Allah is the success.

  8. I think America is the only country in the world that is cognizant of the “black and white” differences. The election of Barack Obama and the dream of Martin Luther King / Malcolm X has finally come true; ONLY in America. Travel to other parts of the world like Malaysia and you will find tribalism and racism.

  9. Can’t but feel that Pat Buchanan had the ‘easier’ brief.

His points were effortlessly made; the black prof., sounded as if he were making excuses.

How do we get out of the mess (they same dynamics are here in England with a similar diaspora)?

The prof. is playing the ‘blame-game’ –and alluding to Apches and Cherokes as if to say he ws just on a race ‘ting’ did not work.

Diasporan cultures are weak, often shallow, corrupting and destructive. Swarthmoor has brought the facts: racism alone does not explain these.

Islam may be a solution. But theology alone can not address these problems (despite Philly antics).

A start would be a cncerted effort by black intellectuals to lead a kulturalkamp. It is hard seeing them do that since the ‘race’ game is profitable business, helping careers and votes.

If the Prof. was saying the same as ol’ Pat, it is hard to see why producers wld call him in for an ‘opposing view’. That is something to think abt.

  10. @swathmoor,

Listen brother i lived in Africa and the promblems facing blacks here are the same as Africa. I love all Muslims but I am so sick of these so called born Muslims coming to this country allways talking about blacks. Why are you here in this land of the kaffir if you are not here to spread Al-Islam? If you really feel this way why are you not out spreading our Rabb’s dean to the unbelievers? Until you do thATyou really need to be quiet!!!
I was blessed by Allah(swt) to travel so why don’t you fix your own country before you talk. Africa was a mess and I pray Allah(swt) heals all 54 countries. No Muslim is better than another Muslim except by piety and u should be kind to all ppl Muslim and non-muslim!
You talk sooo bad about converts but do you not forget all the Prophet(saw) early followers reverted? Why do you ppl who claim you beleive in Holy Qu’ran forget that? take this sinfull false pride out of your hearts spread Islam to the unbelievers or return to the lands’ of the Muslims? If you know so much fix Somalia, Sudan, Mali, Niger, Palesnstine and al the other Muslim countries’ that are suffering!!!
u SO WORRIED ABOUT BAM’S THEN SPREAD DAWAH!!!!! Why point out a preceived promblem without offering a solution? That is the behavior of the disbeliever Ppl say Qur’an dwells in they heart but I don’t see it here. May Allah(swt) forgive us all

  11. @sawathmoore

also brother so u telling me africans don’t do drugs, murder and rape? these things have nothing to do with the deen this things are ppl’s decisons. Also if you are so on deen and your ppl why is somalia and the other Islamic countries in Africa such a mess!
Get real ppl we all got a lot of work to do. Focus on your own house and leave mine be!
BTW I was married to an African lady that turned out badly who was doing all the things you say about my ppl but am I to be foolish enough to think all african women like that. A lot of ppl claim Islam but when they hit the west the real self comes out and brother Africans are the root we bam’s are the tree. Every day my heart aches cause u ppl come here and tell us race doesn’t matter it allways have and allways will untill Allah(swt) calls us to be judged. We must hold to the rope of Allah(swt) and be a united colorless ummah for the rest. This is usa leave your culture in your house and follow Islam! BTW I love east african food considering my wife was from kenya and I scolded her about her attiude toward somali kenyans just to let you know and if I said anything wrong here may Allah(swt) forgive me and all of us.

  12. @ also at swathmoor,

u telling me somali stop doing khat? killing fellow musl;ims over clan and are livingin peace huh?
