Elgin Baylor: Sore Loser

Elgin Baylor was the General Manager of the gold standard for NBA futility - the LA Clippers - for over 22 years. Year after year, his team missed the playoffs and consistently contended for the NBA’s #1 overall pick in the NBA draft lottery - in spite of the fact that over half of the league qualifies for the playoffs. Yet, the Clippers kept him around year after year. Then they finally fire him after a long track record of losing seasons and only 3 playoff appearances. The Clippers could not have been more patient with him.

How does Mr Baylor repay them? He sues them claiming that he was discriminated against because of race.

Based on the track record, Elgin doesn’t have much of a case.

  1. Twenty-two years? I can’t believe that he went there with the lawsuit. Baylor team has sucked for a long time. I’m really surprised that he lasted that long. Racial discrimination.?a definite no.There are probably other Black/White GM’s, who wish that they can stay on a team as long as he has. I don’t think that there is any credibility to his case.

  2. This organzations has been a total diseaster.Elgin don’t shame yourself like that Isiah Thomas character.

  3. I wouldn’t blame baylor for the team completely. The owner of the clippers is one of the cheapest people around and looks at the franchise from a purely business perspective - cut costs and make money. Talent doesn’t last on the clippers, and I’m not surprised to read Baylor was making well below what is comparable among other GMs.
