Obama May Ultimately Lose Limbaugh Fight

When the White House picked this fight, I was baffled as to why they would lift Limbaugh’s status so high. But as the weeks have passed I see that this is a strategy. It also takes the media focus off of the plunging stock market and on Michael Steele and the GOP. Politically, I suppose this has been a (temporary) good move. But I believe that in the long term people will begin to see through this tactic and see that it is nothing more than a red herring. Secondly, this is very different from the GOP’s attacks on left wing slob Michael Moore, who does not have a talk show. Limbaugh has 3 hours of broadcast time everyday to respond to each and every attack and can afford to remain in the mud. The White House on the other must move on at some point.
A growing number of Democratic supporters are wondering now if this is really a good fight for the youthful Obama administration to have against a lowly, verbose broadcaster.
Not because it might lose a PR struggle. But because it’s playing on Rush’s homefield, distracting debate from more important issues and galvanizing many Republicans who don’t otherwise yet have anyone else to coalesce around. Not to mention raising Democratic blood pressures. And introducing countless new potential listeners to Limbaugh.
Remember, Ronald Reagan’s political dictum for a president was: “Always fight up. Never fight down.”
And I must agree with whichever “Key Republican Senator” said this:
the move is an “outrage” that “reeks of hypocrisy coming from a president who campaigned against these very cynical political tactics last fall.“
Meanwhile the unemployment rate has risen to 8%

Yep! This is be expected among other things from Rush. As my mom would tell me , let the other person keep talking junk and not to say anything because you will look like the better person. This is why I hope Obama will be as professional as he was during the campaigns. As Rush put it , he wants him to fail and he’s( along with some of his other friends) doing everything the can to make him do it.
Already, He’s already been in office for a little over two months and there is a little twinkle with his stimulus plan. The mayor of Columbus, Ohio is already grateful for it. He said that without it, he would have had to lay off a significant number of police officers and even my own Republican Governor admitted that our economy would have been in a major hole without it. It may be little , but it’s so far , has been helpful. I didn’t think that we would see any results until somewhere in the year.
I try not to believe in polls, but there was a time where Bush screwed up the reputation to the point where the Republicans was down to 44 percent, now its down to 27 percent, while Obama ’s still remain high according to NBC. Rush wants Obama to fail ,eh? So far he’s passing the test.
I am not sure why people get so worried from a single man. Limbaugh didn’t even believe that “Bama Obama” wouldn’t make it this far…well Obama has made it. Now, what Limbaugh wants to do in terms of making the polls go up. Limbaugh should be ashamed as most Republicans are because it doesn’t matter; blue or red…if you are losing your job and house…a 3 hour talk show of Limbaugh won’t get all of that back. Talk is cheap, and personally don’t even care about a slob like Rush Limbaugh. A dime a dozen “analysts” like him are around to tell you the academic solution just like a tarrot card reader, a palm reader and “magician”. Rush Limbaugh is nothing more than an arm chair revolutionary so used to fame and making money doing nothing that if he were to do any real work it would expose him.
Rush can atleast give a speech without the using a speech writer and a teleprompter. I don’t support the democrats or the republicans, and I didn’t vote in the last election. I consider myself a conservative on social issues, and like a hybrid of socialism and capitalism when it comes to economics. I think Obama will be a disaster, his term will put the final nail in the coffin of the USA. He is spending like crazy, and he is very liberal when it comes to social issues. He even wants to fund abortion in the third world. The only good thing I see coming from the Obama election is Hillary. I was never a fan of hers before, but I’ve come respect her. She has already pissed off Israel and prefers diplomacy over wars.
Rush is totaly ridiclous and a jackass excuse my expression.Bottomline is that the empire is crumbling and it is nothing we can do about as long as the leaders work from the same old tired stratgies. On the real were are the post calling Mr.Obama to task for so far not haveing the U.S. attend the conference on racism in Durban,SouthAfrica. This bull sounds like Bush all over again.I never knew racism and explotation ended. It’s Obama so some people will make up more excuses for there Messiah.
As salamu alaikum Tariq,
If Rush Limbaugh had the influence you suggest, Obama would not have won the election. I believe the real problems this country is facing will force Americans to move away from the old ideological wars of the past. Only the hardcore partisans will continue with those issues.
As we saw in the coverage of the stimulus package negotiations, the press and punditocracy are completely out of touch with the lives of most Americans. The ‘Limbaugh Effect’ is about as real as the ‘Bradley Effect’ was on the recent election.
@ Jeremiah
It is not that Limbaugh has any power or influence. It is that I don’t think that stooping down to Limbaugh’s level is the best course of action given the current circumstances.
