I am not very good at talking about myself, so here is are some tidbits.
I was born in Sardis, Mississippi, but currently live in the DC area. I have traveled to many Muslim communities (as well as overseas) and covered a lot of bases in my life. I have lived in small town USA, the inner city and the suburbs.
On this blog, I discuss a lot of taboo subjects and typically look at things from an angle that others will not. Please check all emotional baggage at the door. I am not defined by any one aspect of my life

I think the provocation is needed;however “The rise and fall of the Dawah needs to be looked at from another point. Allah gave us a Deen that he was please with and a Prophet that He was please with. The standards were put in place by The Almighty. The history needs to reflect that when people taint Allah’s Deen and The Messenger ’s Sunnah we have to go through a purging process. The uncomfatable history was in fact a process of finding the original messages for our beloved way of life. Maybe ypu can use your forum to correct, in my opinion, the misnomer “The rise and Fall…..etc.

I read your piece in the Muslim Link, April 6, 2007 (Dealing with ‘Don’t Confuse me with the Facts’). Fantastic! You are absolutely right. We have to speak out loud and stop fellow Muslims from feeding on rumours and wacky conspiracy theories. I do the same in discussions with family and friends. I react forcefully simply because it is necessary to stamp out this foolishness and attack the ignorance that breeds such folly. I am particularly irked by bits about Jews controlling everything and are responsible for the misery Muslims face!! Keep talking, keep writing. You are not alone.

Your angle really is not new or enlightening but it is extremely controversial. I know you have plenty of AA (AfricanAmerican) friends and maybe even relatives. Are you AA or from another ethnic group. Based upon my review of a couple our your posts you seem to be anti-AA, but that is okay. We AA’s derive our strength and fortitude to those jump on the anti-AA bandwagon. I know for sure that there are more couples making over 100k a year than your statistics reveal. My household income is way over 100K and I know plenty of other AA couples who make more as well. Its all good.

You made many good points, I always wondered why some of the american muslims have too many marriages. I am an African-American muslim sister that was born and raise muslim. I am single and do want to get married (I have been married before), but I refuse to participate in what I called “drive-by marriages.”
Some have called me picky, and others believe that I am way too hard on my brothers.(especially african-americans)
It is very depressing being single year after year, because there are no suitable mates to marry. I know if I relaxed my standards some, I could be married in a month, but how long will that last? I don’t want to marry just for the sake of being married.
I love myself way too much to allow someone to “use” me and discard me like toilet paper. So if I have to be single, then that will be my lot in this world.
I am a professional sister and I work around non muslim men.
Let me say this to my Muslim Brothers (especially the African-Ameican ones) if I may, Please don’t ever, ever think that non-muslim men are not attracted to Muslim Sisters, because they are!
In the past, sisters in my age group would just remain single until someone married them, but it is not that way anymore.
Our younger muslimahs are choosing to have un-Islamic relationships with non-Muslim men. Why? Why is this happening to our daughters, sisters, nieces, and granddaughters?
Because they don’t see a “future” for themselves. They have watched their grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and other sisters in the Muslim community struggle ALONE, and they vow that this would not happen to them.
But sadly it has in a lot of ways and the Islamic community will have to deal with the fallout for years to come.
Tell me brothers and sisters, how many young sisters do you know that have children with non-believing men?
Why are we not raising our sons to marry Muslim girls? Many of our young brothers are choosing to marry non-believing women. I know they have this option, but what does this say to the young sisters in the community?
That they are not good enough!
Please don’t tell me that those sisters who get caught up with non Muslims just need to remain strong or that their deen is not strong, because by the grace of ALLAH (swt) “there go I.”
It is human nature to be wanted, to be desired and to be love, even if you are Muslim.

I am not Muslim, I am Christian and so far I have liked what I have read. You seem to have a refreshing grasp on Islamic issues. I do not know much about Islam or Allah but what I have been reading and seeing is scary. You have shed some light on the Muslim religion in my opinion and have helped to alleviate some of the racism against Muslims. Pls keep it up. I need to know that the majority of Muslims do not want to kill me and bring Shariah law to the US. We should all live freely and respect eachother for who we are. GOD BLESS!

I’m a secular person of Baptist background. I didn’t really know much about Islam until I met Muslims on my own…but even then I never bought these wild conspiracy theories about Muslims wanting to kill us all, and impose their religion on us. Only an uneducated and racist mind would fall for this sort of nonsense. It seems to me that radical whites are the ones who want to kill everyone else and impose their “values” on the rest of the world.
